Yesterday the missers and I went with some friends to see Marvel’s The Avengers.

Well, what a thoroughly enjoyable movie experience!  Really, a very exciting, funny, action-packed spectacle.  I was a bit sad that they killed off a favorite character of mine but, hey; it’s a movie.  There’s always a way to bring them back if necessary.  The direction was really good in that it got out of the way and told the story, and there were more genuine laughs than you’d find in most comedy movies.  This being said, they didn’t overdo the humor and thereby ruin it.

To anyone else who’s going to see The Avengers, please stay for the credits as there are two ‘easter eggs’ therein, one of which contains no dialogue whatsoever but is funny nonetheless.  Die-hard Marvel comics aficionados will appreciate the ‘reveal’ in the other.

Yeah.  Great, funny, immersive and enjoyable movie experience.  I’ll more than likely go see it again, but in 2D and sitting a bit further back.  You’ll see why.
